How do I install SnapZyn?

Install from the Chrome Web Store. After install, pin SnapZyn from the Chrome puzzle-piece menu and try the two shortcuts below. No account is required to get started — sign in only when you want semantic search (⌘J) or AI features.

What are the keyboard shortcuts?

⌘+Shift+S (or Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows / Linux) opens the region selector and captures the visible tab. ⌘+J (Ctrl+J) opens the “Ask your library” command palette over the current page. You can rebind both from chrome://extensions/shortcuts.

The capture shortcut isn't working. What do I do?

Three things to check, in order: (1) Open chrome://extensions/shortcutsand confirm both shortcuts are bound — Chrome sometimes drops them after an update. (2) Make sure no other extension is bound to the same combo (LastPass, Loom, etc.). (3) Reload the tab — the content script needs to attach, and Chrome doesn't inject into pages that were already open when the extension was installed.

Does SnapZyn record my screen in the background?

No. SnapZyn only captures when you press ⌘+Shift+S. It does not monitor tabs, record browsing history, or run any background recording. See the Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.

What's the difference between Free, Founder, Standard, and Pro?

Free is 250 screenshots/month and 50 ⌘J queries/month. Founder's License is $19 one-time for the first 100 buyers — 300 captures/day, 50 ⌘J/day, 50 debug analyses/month, 20 diffs/month, and 50% off Pro forever. Standard Lifetime is $29 one-time with the same limits after the Founder cap is reached. Pro is $5/month or $48/year for unlimited everything plus cloud sync (v1.1).

How do I cancel or get a refund?

Email support@snapzyn.com with your order number. Lifetime licenses (Founder, Standard) are refundable within 14 days of purchase. Pro subscriptions can be cancelled any time from Settings → Billing and continue through the end of the current period.

Where are my screenshots stored?

Locally in your browser's IndexedDB. Full-resolution images never leave your device. Only OCR text and low-resolution thumbnails (and only when you use an AI feature) are sent through our proxy to OpenAI. Sensitive patterns — emails, API keys, credit cards, phones, IPs — are detected and redacted locally before any network call.

Can I export my library?

Yes. Settings → Data → Export library produces a ZIP containing every screenshot at full resolution plus a JSON manifest of OCR text, tags, and metadata. Use this before uninstalling if you want to keep your captures.
